"Rest For Your Souls"
Gerry M Kaye
Cezanne accepted the color theories of the Impressionists and allied himself with their group, yet he was convinced that Impressionism lacked form and structure. He was thought to have brought intellectual order to his view of nature, rather than the random approach of the Impressionists.
'Still life' gave Cezanne the perfect opportunity to practice his theories, since a chosen number of objects could be arranged in a well ordered composition. 'Tulips in a Vase' is widely considered Cezanne's most important still life, and it illustrates to many, the profound study and arrangement
of forms that set the artist apart as the first 'modern' painter.
Titled horizontal surfaces and slightly askew objects contribute to an effect of continual searching for, and balancing of forms. To composition and structure, the artist added the harmony and high keyed tension of color.
Yet, in inclusive universality of concept for artistic harmony, even this revolutionary lacked an important aspect of 'new and modern' art that graciously includes the sensitivity found in eastern philosophically artistic thought: 'the western man cuts the flowers for pleasure, the eastern prefers viewing them
in their Ordained longevity.'
Psalms 119:151; Matthew 11:28
Thou Art Near, O LORD, and all Thy Commandments Are Truth.
Come to Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden,
and I will Give you Rest.
Beyond cut flowers, felled fruitful trees
and fallen towers; beyond the seas,
beyond the night, beyond the day
beyond the words that men would say,
Are Lasting Sounds, never in vain,
The LORD Abounds in Loving Reign,
in Light and no darkness at all,
come one, come all, and heed His Call.
There remains therefore a rest to the people of GOD.
In acceptance, not dissension heard,
The Good LORD's True and Loving Word.
I John 1:4
This then is the Message that we have heard of Him
and declare to you, that GOD IS Light,
and in Him Is no darkness at all.
Psalms 119:105; 11 Corinthians 4:6; Galatians 1:5.
Your Word Is a lamp unto my feet
and a Light unto my path.
For GOD, Who Commanded the light
to shine out of the darkness,
has Shined in our hearts,
to Give the Light of Knowledge
of the Glory of GOD in the Face of Jesus Christ.
To Whom be Glory forever and ever.
