" THE GOOD NEWS " JULY ISSUE: By Gerry M. Kaye News Release, June 24, 2000, Los Angeles - In two June 18, 2000, L.A.Times articles and a poll, the news indicates that a majority of Americans are in favor of the restrictive limiting of abortion, 65% in the so-called partial birth abortion procedure; and are also in favor of the law requiring teen-agers to involve a parent in the abortion decision. Increasingly, many are for restrictions for the sake of a higher standard of morality in a more decent nation. More and more, people are feeling that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure; and a higher moral standard of behavior should be promoted, rather than an easy, demoralizing, precarious way out of trouble, for the ultimate well being of both the precious individual and of the precious nation that we cherish and wish to preserve and protect. |
" MURDER AS A RIGHT OF CHOICE? " The above L.A. Times article also revealed the existence of a dangerous ambivalence in attitude among some in America. Although the majority polled consider abortion to be murder, conflictingly, in a strong competing set of feelings, some agree that a woman should have the right to choose that murder.
Heretofore in our society, the Constitutional law upheld that if anyone chooses to and executes murder, it is the committing of a crime punishable by incarceration and in some states, even possible death. Presently that is obviously no longer the case in the conflict between murder in abortion and the right to choose it and perform it, without legal consequence.
"THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR YOUTH AND OUR FREEDOM "
What then, has happened to the "free" American psyche that stretches from many of our impressionable young people to some decision makers in the courts, that the dangerous precedence of okaying murder in abortion as a right of choice is often accepted? Since the event of Roe vs.Wade which is a court decision that has made some Americans comfortable with the concept of legalized murder by protecting the right to choose above the more important protection of the law against murder, this issue has become extremely politicized and divisive.
The celebrity of politicians is used to draw votes. Consistently we all see the smiling, condescending faces of many politicians, pundits and some in the entertainment media pushing the deceptive notion of the inconsequential right to choose in abortion. Some buy media time, pandering to a group that consists mainly of young women that are easily influenced by the rich and famous, promoting the desecration of our society that is evident in an ever increasing, dangerous, ugly lack of morality among our youth.
This serves to influence a breakdown of the laws that are meant to protect us all against crime and the easy choice of murder. I would submit that by this our freedom is being stretched, deceptively influenced, and dangerously compromised by the destructive forces of oppression.

When a nation's Constitutional, just, protective crime laws are being compromised, then it is high time for the courts of the land to prioritize and make the important decisions that are the most beneficial for the majority of its citizens. Murder is surely a nation's deadliest form of crime. In condoning it in any way, we are setting a faulty precedent that endangers all of our citizens and destroys the fundamental, constructive values in our nation.

Let every soul be subject to the Higher Powers.May GOD Bless this nation and all nations to seek a better world for our children and our future, and peace for us all, with deliberated effort to rise above and overcome oppression. Amen.
