The Polls On Abortion Reveal That:
"It is crystal clear that Americans are unhappy and concerned with the moral state of affairs of our country.
The central aspect of that concern, as it concerns our judiciary, is legal abortion, as defined by Roe v. Wade.
This is what this fight over judge appointments is about. Americans are ready to end the Roe v. Wade abortion decision.
Americans want change."  - Author / leading African-American observer of cultural issues- Star Parker
"Personhood' Silver Bullet to Kill Roe v. Wade?"

In the 2008 campaign, the Democrats, including Obama, consistently claim (unchallenged by interviewers) that their extreme policies in 'a woman's right' ( to privacy ) in abortions is to their advantage with most Americans (in the polls.) That's easy for them to say; but what are the facts? The truth is that Americans are polling at quite the opposite.
The tendency to mischaracterize Roe v. Wade and make it appear less radical is not limited to left wing politics / newspapers / magazines or the mainstream media in general. Polling firms, often working in association with mainstream papers and TV networks, have shown similar tendencies.
Polling with regard to Roe v. Wade often demonstrates that the wording of the polling question has a great influence on the result-and that the public is still not fully informed about Roe v. Wade and abortion in general.
Imagine the results of a poll which asks peoples' opinions on abortions of  fetus' and the late-term partial birth abortion procedure; then imagine one which truthfully describes abortion rights under Roe v. Wade as permitting "a woman to get an abortion at any time, including having an abortion provider deliver the baby 'feet first,' except for the head; stab scissors into the base of the baby's skull, which is still in the birth canal; insert a suction tube into the hole made by the scissors and suck the baby's brains out; and then finish delivering the dead baby."
There is no doubt that the results of the two would be far apart..

Democrat  pres. candidate, Senator Obama's hard and consistent pro-abortion voting record shows unconditional support
for abortion which includes the extremes such as the horrific Partial-birth Abortion procedure,  proven to be the killing-near
decapitation of the living child; and against the "Born Alive Infants Protection Act" thereby denying support for medical treatment
for living babies that survive the abortion, being left to pitifully,  painfully die.
Republican pres. candidate, Senator John McCain maintains a consistent pro-life voting record, voting "Yes" to ban PBA,
and "Yes" for the Born Alive Protection Act - with obvious concern for the lives of these children.
"The Polls On Abortion"
"35 years after Roe" - CNN
January 21, 2008
Public opinion on abortion has remained remarkably stable over the years. A CNN/Opinion Research survey in October found 36 percent of Americans think abortion should be legal in most (or all) circumstances, 40 percent believe it should be available in few circumstances, such as to save the mother's life, and 22 percent say abortion should never be legal. The majority of 62% say it should be rare or not at all. That is almost unchanged in the past 15 years.

New research from the Alan Guttmacher Institute found the rate of abortions is at its lowest level since Roe, and the total number is also in decline, about 1.2 million in the year 2005, down 25 percent since the all-time high in 1990.

Poll - "Extreme Abortion Policies Turn Off Women Voters Of Both Parties"

9/12/2007 - The respected "Polling Company" firm conducted a survey with 600 women voters of both parties from August 15-20. The poll revealed that Hillary’s positions on abortion were at odds with a majority of American women. Some 64 percent of women voters would be less likely to vote for a presidential candidate who voted against the partial-birth abortion ban - a measure Clinton voted against on four occasions. Sixty-eight percent of women voters are less likely to vote for a presidential candidate who supports taxpayer-funded abortion - something Hillary Clinton adamantly supports. And 73 percent less likely to vote for a presidential candidate who voted against a law that would have made it a criminal act for an adult to take a girl younger than 18 years of age across state lines to get an abortion without her parents’ knowledge. Clinton twice voted against a Congressional bill to do just that. “Clinton needs women voters to win, yet her extreme abortion policies remain out of step with the majority of American women," Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of the Susan B. Anthony List, told about the poll.
Democrat  pres. candidate- Senator Obama's support/votes match Clinton's on all counts.
"Voters Oppose Most Abortions, Poll Says"

WASHINGTON (BP) - American voters oppose legalized abortion in the overwhelming majority of circumstances allowed under current law, according to a 2007 poll.

"Support for Roe v. Wade Hits New Low, Poll Shows"
Tracking U.S. attitudes toward Roe v. Wade
May 4, 2006
U.S. support for Roe v. Wade is at its lowest level in decades, according to a recent Harris poll. For 33 years Harris Interactive has been measuring attitudes toward the landmark Supreme Court decision that made abortions legal during the first three months of pregnancy. The latest telephone survey of 1,016 adults indicates Roe v. Wade is supported by a slim 49% to 47% plurality, compared with 52% who favored the decision in 2005 and 57% in 1998.
"Americans Want Change!"
- Author - Star Parker - "The majority of Americans feel that abortion is morally wrong.
It's also sharp and clear from the Gallup poll that Americans are not happy about the moral state of our country."
"The fact that most of our citizens see abortion as immoral, and that support for legal abortion is highly qualified,
shows that there is underlying discomfort nationwide with today's legal regime governing abortion. Americans want change."
On May 28, 2005, Star Parker, author and leading African-American observer of cultural issues said that "Americans are ready to end the Roe v. Wade abortion decision, despite polls."
Star continued, "Polling on abortion reveals the complexities of the American psyche.....According to (recent) polling by Gallup, 51 percent of Americans say that abortion is "morally wrong"... Further polling by Gallup shows support for legal abortion "under any circumstances" at only 23 percent. The majority of those who support abortion feel it should be legal "only in a few circumstances."
"What this polling data tells me is that most Americans are not supportive of the spirit of Roe v. Wade. The legalization of abortion under this decision was under the rationale of a principle: a so-called "right to privacy." However, if most Americans agreed that legal abortion emerges as result of a fundamental right to do it, they would not respond in polls saying that it is immoral and should be legal "only in a few circumstances."
"It's also sharp and clear from the Gallup poll that Americans are not happy about the moral state of our country. Only 19 percent feel that the current state of moral values in the country is "excellent/good", and 39 percent see it as "poor." With regard to the direction of our state of morals, 16 percent responded that things are "getting better" and 77 percent responded that things are "getting worse."
"I think the group of so-called moderate senators who cut the recent deal to defuse the nuclear device, which would have formally purged the Senate of the filibuster option on confirmation of judges, should pay attention to this information. That is, they should pay attention if they care about their political future."
"It is crystal clear that Americans are unhappy and concerned with the moral state of affairs of our country. The central aspect of that concern, as it concerns our judiciary, is legal abortion, as defined by Roe v. Wade. This is what this fight over judge appointments is about."
"The fact that most of our citizens see abortion as immoral, and that support for legal abortion is highly qualified, shows that there is underlying discomfort nationwide with today's legal regime governing abortion. Americans want change." - Author - Star Parker
"Voting exit polls have proven wrong, time and time again. Polls should never be used as a deciding factor
in choosing which persons/policies to support, instead of being informed of the true facts on issues.
For example, who should ever believe the results of a presidential poll taken by known left wing,
radical entities and the pollsters with whom they collaborate...
trying to influence the public to their pick/agendas?" - Gerry M. Kaye
'Personhood' Silver Bullet to Kill Roe v. Wade?
Blackmun cited case weakness when he authored 1973 abortion decision
Robert Muise, of the Thomas More Law Center, argues the "inviolable right of every innocent human being to life" as well as defining "person" as applying to all human beings, irrespective of age, "including unborn offspring at every state of their biological development, including fertilization." Roe determined that "the unborn is not a person within the meaning of the law," he said, and that can be its downfall.
It was the Roe author, Blackmun, who concluded: "(If the) suggestion of personhood [of the preborn] is established, the [abortion rights] case, of course, collapses, for the fetus' right to life is then guaranteed specifically by the 14th Amendment."
"Thus, the personhood of the preborn child is the single point on which the entire debate turns," said Dan Becker, spokesman for the Georgia Right to Life.
Mark Crutcher, chief of Life Dynamics agreed that abortion must be stopped and arguing over how to do that accomplishes little.
After the Supreme Court allowed the limits on partial birth abortions, he said:
"So my advice is (a) pause for a moment to celebrate the victory, (b) don't read more into it than is actually there, and
(c) get back to work. Babies are still dying."

Dr Spencer - "The (alive) fetus can't come out in one go.
The fetal parts are soft enough to break apart as they are being removed..."
In other words, he has to dismember the fetus inside the uterus and pull it out, bit by bit.
He uses an ultrasound scan to guide him. Even then, some body parts are too large to come out intact. To illustrate what happens, Dr Spencer grips his thumb between the
surgical forceps and squeezes gently.
